Beginning February 4 visitors to the Brooklyn Arts Council Gallery will be able to see Glitch Generation, a group exhibition of artworks based off of mistakes, intentional or not, in the wiring of our brains.

The Glitch Generation aesthetic is also partially a reflection on the digital age. With technology of phones, computers and cameras constantly advancing, we have raised our expectations of their performance. The artwork in this exhibition points out the malfunctions and imperfections of this technology despite our desire for perfection.

To achieve this look some artists intentionally used a computer program or manipulated hardware to create the glitch, while others came across the flaw by chance.

Participating in the exhibition, among others, is LJ Lindhurst, known for her realistic paintings and contributing a large acrylic painting of a chocolate bunny wrapped in green foil. Photographer, Nora Herting contributes Reluctant Portraitist, a digital photograph of two women with their heads blacked out.

The exhibition also includes a music/performance on April 1 and a video screening on May 6.

Gallery Spotlight, by Shelby Blitz, is a series of weekly short features on art exhibitions, and the galleries that host them, from all corners of the world.
